Champions League 2026-27 Draw Reaction: PSG Draw the Gauntlet, Mourinho Comes Home
The Monaco draw gave PSG Barcelona and Manchester City, sent Mourinho into an Inter reunion, and put Arsenal on a road through Madrid and Munich. Every fixture, every date, and the jerseys to order before September 8.
The draw in Monaco on Thursday night handed Paris Saint-Germain the hardest road in the competition, sent Jose Mourinho straight into a reunion 16 years in the making, and set Arsenal on a revenge tour through Madrid and Munich. Matchday 1 kicks off September 8.
Thirty-six teams walked out of the Grimaldi Forum knowing their eight league-phase opponents. Defending champions PSG drew Barcelona at home and Manchester City away in the same eight-game stretch. Real Madrid opened its Mourinho second act with Inter Milan visiting the Bernabeu. Arsenal, beaten on penalties in last season's final, drew the two clubs with more European Cups than anyone else.
This is our draw reaction in full: every headline fixture, the dates that matter, and the jerseys worth ordering before Matchday 1 traffic arrives. The season-by-season context lives in our 2026-27 club jerseys hub, alongside the rest of the season hub network.

PSG drew the gauntlet: Barcelona at home, City away
Two-time defending champions, fresh off a penalty-shootout win over Arsenal in last season's final, and the draw responds by handing Luis Enrique's team the two opponents every other club wanted to avoid. Barcelona come to Paris. PSG travel to the Etihad. Sandwiched around those: Roma at home, Aston Villa away, Galatasaray, Villarreal, Slovan Bratislava and Como.
The prize on the other side of that schedule is the one no club has claimed since 2018: three straight European Cups. Only Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Ajax have ever done it. PSG open the campaign as the team to beat, and their fixture list guarantees we learn everything about them by December.
Barcelona's draw is nearly as brutal in reverse: they host Manchester City and travel to Paris, with Aston Villa, Sporting, Feyenoord, Galatasaray, Como and Sabah filling out the slate. Lamine Yamal's second Champions League campaign starts inside the sport's two hardest away trips. His full kit story is in our Lamine Yamal jersey hub.
The Mourinho reunion tour starts with Inter at the Bernabeu
Sixteen years ago, Jose Mourinho won the Champions League with Inter Milan and left for Real Madrid within days. This summer he returned to the Bernabeu on a contract that runs to 2029, and the draw immediately wrote the script: Inter travel to Madrid in the league phase, with Arsenal waiting away, plus PSV and RB Leipzig at home, Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, LASK and AEK Athens.
The final, remember, is in Madrid. At the Metropolitano, across the city from the Bernabeu. A Mourinho season that ends with a Champions League final in his new home city is the kind of storyline the draw gods do not usually hand out for free.
The new UEFA scheduling rules did their part too. The repeat-home-fixture restriction blocked Inter from hosting Arsenal, and Inter instead drew Liverpool at home plus Real Madrid, Club Brugge, Borussia Dortmund, Shakhtar, Feyenoord, Stuttgart and Slovan Bratislava.
Arsenal's revenge tour runs through Madrid and Munich
Losing a Champions League final on penalties either breaks a team or hardens it. Arsenal get to answer immediately: Real Madrid at the Emirates, Bayern Munich away at the Allianz, Borussia Dortmund at home, plus Real Betis, Lille, Napoli, Sabah and Slavia Prague.
That is the draw of a club the universe is testing. It is also, honestly, the best possible draw for neutral television, and it makes the Arsenal home shirt one of the smartest buys of the season: two of the biggest nights of the entire league phase happen in north London.
Bayern and Manchester United renew an old argument
The draw threw up one fixture that feels imported from a different decade: Bayern Munich away at Old Trafford. Bayern also travel to Atletico Madrid, and host Arsenal in the tie that may decide who tops the table. Their full slate adds Real Betis, Bodo/Glimt, Lille, Slavia Prague and Viking.
Manchester United's return to the competition brings Atletico away, Roma and RB Leipzig at home, and trips to Sporting, Villarreal and Como. The Bayern home game is the marquee night, and United's Champions League away shirt with the competition patch is already one of our fastest movers this month.

Liverpool's fixture list reads like a greatest-hits album
Inter away. Atletico Madrid at home. Porto at home, Club Brugge away, Villarreal, Fenerbahce, Lens and LASK. Liverpool's eight-game slate is a tour of every rivalry the competition has to offer short of Real Madrid, who they were kept from hosting by the new fixture rules.
It is also the deepest English contingent in years: five Premier League clubs in the draw, with Manchester City, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester United joining Liverpool. City's own path is front-loaded: PSG at the Etihad, Barcelona away at Camp Nou, plus Sporting, Porto, Napoli, RB Leipzig, AEK Athens and Lens.

What to order before Matchday 1
Same rule we apply to every kickoff on the calendar: order two weeks before the first night you want to wear it. Matchday 1 starts September 8, which makes the last week of August your window.
- UCL patch editions go first. The authentic shirts with the competition starball patch, like City's Haaland 9 away and the Liverpool and United away editions, are limited-run items each season. When the knockout stage starts, the early league-phase stock is usually gone.
- Home shirts for the marquee visitors. PSG host Barcelona, Arsenal host Real Madrid, Bayern visit Old Trafford. If you are going to one of those nights, the home shirt of the hosting club is the one that photographs right.
- Pre-order items beat the December crunch. Some 2026/27 away and third shirts are still on pre-order timing. Ordering now locks your size before Matchday 4 inventory pressure hits.
The full club-by-club inventory, including every 2026/27 kit we carry, lives in the soccer club teams collection and the 26/27 season club jerseys collection. For tier questions before you buy, our Authentic vs Replica vs Fan Version breakdown and season buying guide cover the decision tree.
